I’m really proud of the team that has been put together during the last 3 years. We place a great emphasis on the mosaic structure and its resulting diversity. A plain surface doesn’t bring much fun, stained glass or graffiti is more interesting. Therefore, the potential job seekers should be above all interesting. They can compose hymns, study the history of comics or be keen in Haskell (we don’t like only guys programming in LISP :) )

The truth also is that everyone wants to work with people who are at least as good as they are themselves. You get tired of being a donor for the weaker ones. Personally, I don’t attach much weight to a list of projects in the CV, the important things for our team are the quickness of mind, the ability to absorb information like a sponge and the energy to follow the trends.

Although there are more than 50 of us, we haven’t given in to the hell of bloated organisational hierarchies. Our structure resembles a lotus, where the single leaves are formed by self-organizing teams or individuals. They manage their own recruitment of newcomers and the finances (so far only to a limited extent, but we’re heading towards a complete decentralization). Important qualities are independence, the ability to bear responsibility and communication skills. Don’t expect managers; everyone chooses and follows through with their own tasks themselves.

During the actual recruitment the individual talks to several people. If anyone in the company expresses doubts, the candidate is refused. We used to make compromises in the past but we paid for them most of the time. If it’s possible, we let the candidate work with us
for a week or two to try the co-operation. No contract, no obligations. It’s not a law that the candidate will like our company, our ambition is not to be an ideal place for everyone.

And the last thing: In our company, nobody plays elite or superstars but we have an elite team. If you liked this text at least a bit, don’t be shy and write to jetminds.com.
